SIDDHA AGASTYA
The first Siddha,
direct disciple of Shiva and guru of all other Siddhas.
Siddha Agastya – Founder of the Palm Leaf Library
Siddha Agastya is said to be the direct disciple of Shiva and the guru of all following Siddhas.
He is known as one of the “seven great sages” (Saptarishis).
In some places he is also known as “Kurumuni”.
He made great contributions to the four Vedas – the mantras, it is said, were taught to him directly by Brahman.
He also made immense contributions to medicine and astrology (Nadi astrology/ Jyotish).
It is said that he developed very powerful Siddha medicine that can heal many ailments and even revive the dead.
He has created the fascinating Palm Leaf Library.
Here, anyone who is chosen to do so can find incredibly detailed information about their own life in terms of past, present and future.
Also information about past/parallel and future incarnations!
The palm leafs are divided into different chapters (“Kaandam”).
In the basic chapter, the first step is to verify the person.
In addition to one’s own name and date of birth, the same data is also verified for all family members.
This opens the way to all the other chapters, which may concern the following topics: Family, siblings, mother, children, enemies, illnesses, married life, life and death, parenthood, profession(s), peace and a chapter on how to prevent or harmonize difficulties of all kinds – be it illness, the effects of bad karma or other.
Siddha Agastya is also considered the father of Ayurveda, which was further developed by his successors and is still practiced in many places today.
Siddha Agastya also received a special healing method of martial arts from Subramanya (son of Shiva) himself – called Silambam and Varmam.
Siddha Agastya keeps the balance – Wedding of Shiva and Parvati
The wedding of Shiva and Parvati took place in the Himalayan mountains.
All the gods, saints and rishis were invited, all of whom were delighted to be part of this divine event.
The weight of all the special guests became heavier and heavier and the Himalayan mountains began to topple, the whole world shook.
Parts of the mountain broke in two and fell to the earth.
The sea level rose and people were afraid of a great flood.
So people rushed to Shiva and prayed to him to save the world.
So Shiva said to his guests: “Dear friends, you have come to witness our wedding.
Now that you have all gathered here in the north, the mountain has begun to topple.
Your weight is too great.
To restore the balance, we must create the same weight in the south.
Then the earth will be in balance and there will be peace.
This act of balance can only be accomplished by Siddha Agastya.
When he goes to the south, peace will reign again.
Then Shiva spoke to Siddha Agastya, who was also among the guests: “O Siddha Agastya, be so kind as to go south and bring the world back into balance.” When the Siddha heard these words, he was disappointed. Like everyone else here, he had come here to be part of this celestial event. Now he would be denied the opportunity to take part in the wedding ceremony. Shiva understood Siddha Agastya’s plight and said, “O great sage, you must go south to do good to the world. So please do as I say. You have the desire to see our wedding, don’t you? Whenever you wish to see us, you need only call out to me. Parvati and I will then appear before you as bride and bridegroom. I will also give you the power of divine eyes, so you can see our wedding from the place where you are then. Now go.”
Siddha Agastya was now truly happy.
He was standing at the southern end and the world was back in balance.
Agastya could witness everything that happened at Shiva’s wedding from the place where he was standing.
Now the wedding could be celebrated without any further hurdles.
